The percentage of children and youth experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety has doubled during the pandemic. Eating disorders and substance use have been on the rise. Young people across the country have been impacted by school closures and the lack of in-person connection with friends, mentors and loved ones. Charities offering innovative solutions to promote youth mental health and build community will help to meet the needs facing young people today and build their capacity to thrive in the future.

Today’s youth have come of age during a time of rapid climate change, and they have the most at stake in how society responds to it. Climate change brings economic and environmental challenges as well as opportunities, and youth who understand the issues will be better prepared to act and respond with innovative solutions. Charities offering creative approaches to climate education and action will help youth to build skills and knowledge and to be inspired to address the urgency of the climate crisis.

Non-profits can secure a $100,000 grant for one year or choose a $200,000 grant spanning two years, contingent on meeting milestone progress.

This grant aims to support programs that foster collaboration among service providers to reduce fragmentation within the mental health system. The ultimate goal is to achieve integration not only within the mental health system but also between the mental health and general health systems. The funding initiative prioritizes programs that offer unique services and do not duplicate the efforts of other organizations.

  Applicants should demonstrate a program design that is informed by best practices, successful program models, academic evidence, and the valuable input of parents and youth with lived experience.
• Evidence of Success:
  Organizations should provide evidence, both quantitative and qualitative, indicating their capability to deliver services and solutions effectively.
• Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration:
  Programs should demonstrate a commitment to advancing the sector through collaboration among multiple stakeholders.

• Reduction of Fragmentation:
  Applicants should showcase how their program actively works to increase sector collaboration and reduce fragmentation in their service region and beyond.
• Outcome Alignment:
  Programs must articulate intended outcomes and metrics aligned with RBC's intended outcomes.
• Intended Impact and Measurement:
  Applicants should clearly articulate the intended impact of their efforts and provide measurable metrics to assess that impact.
• Inclusive Approach:
  Programs must be inclusive and designed to meet the needs of diverse populations, including Aboriginal youth, immigrants, and other underrepresented groups.
• Education of parents, youth, and families should also be an integral component of the proposed program.

These grants are available to registered charities, nonprofit organizations, and qualified donees in Canada for initiatives that promote inclusivity. The grant program focuses on the following areas of interest:

Eligible programs aim to increase access to education and employment for underserved communities. This includes initiatives that provide reskilling, upskilling, and address the digital divide. Projects may encompass skills development, employment services, educational programming, and support to remove barriers and foster inclusivity.

Funding is available for programs that specifically address the health and education needs of high-needs children aged 13 and under. This includes culturally-informed projects that fill evidence-based gaps in the identified community. Areas of focus may include medical assessment, treatment, innovation for childhood disabilities, specialized programs to overcome impairments, and support for families.

Projects aligned with the following criteria will be considered:

• Increasing access to education and employment through reskilling, upskilling, and addressing the digital divide.
• Initiatives that remove barriers and enhance access to education or employment for underrepresented communities.
• Addressing the digital divide by promoting digital accessibility, affordability, technology courses, and digital skills training.
• Upskilling and reskilling projects targeting underserved communities in high-demand areas such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and cyber security.
• Creating a sense of belonging for children aged 13 and under.
• Support for high-needs children and their families, including childhood disabilities and specialized programs to overcome impairments.
• Programs that promote healthy active living and develop health-conscious skills and habits in children from a young age.

We are dedicated to supporting registered charities, non-profits, and Indigenous communities that aim to lead collaboratives focused on designing and implementing systems change strategies for the benefit of youth. If you are interested in applying for this grant, please ensure that you register and contact our office staff prior to submitting your application. The funded projects should primarily benefit young people between the ages of 12 and 25 who face systemic barriers. Additionally, projects that support youth between the ages of 12 and 29 with special needs, disabilities, mental health needs, and/or addictions are also eligible.

Laying the groundwork is a crucial step in strengthening the system of services or opportunities for young people who will benefit from your collaborative efforts. Your collaborative can undertake the following activities:

• Identify and gather essential information, knowledge, and key individuals to inform an effective and sustainable system change strategy.
• Conduct research to gain a deep understanding of the experiences and needs of young people as they engage with the specific system.
• Explore potential models and best practices to inform your approach.
• Design a theory of change and draft an action plan that outlines the steps towards achieving your goals.

Implementing strategies is the next phase of strengthening the system of services or opportunities for young people benefitting from your collaborative work. Here's what your collaborative can focus on during implementation:

• Engage a group of partners who are actively invested in working together towards a shared strategic vision.
• Put into action the collaborative's governance model, theory of change, strategic framework, and action plan.
• Develop a robust capacity building framework that includes approaches to support staff training within the collaborative organizations and those that directly serve youth.
• Implement strategies aimed at creating meaningful systems change.

You have the opportunity to receive up to $250,000 in funding to support your youth support services initiative.

  change, promoting sustainability, and fostering environmental stewardship at
  the community level.
• Indigenous and Interfaith: Programs that celebrate and support
  Indigenous communities, as well as those promoting interfaith dialogue,
  cooperation, and understanding.
• Anti-Racism/Islamophobia: Projects aimed at combating racism and
  Islamophobia, fostering inclusivity, and promoting diversity and equality
  within communities.
